Buying and Selling

Do you buy second hand instruments?

We are always interested in quality second hand instruments and bows for possible purchase.  As a first step, please email us with details and photos of the instrument/bow.  It is helpful to include any other relevant information including purchase and repair receipts, insurance valuations and also an indication of the amount you are hoping to receive.

Do I need to make an appointment if I want to come in?

It is not always necessary to make an appointment to see us.  For student hire, general shop sales and to book in repairs you can drop in at any time.  If you are looking to buy an instrument or bow, please call to make an appointment.  This enables us to have a selection of instruments/bows ready for you to try and to allocate a room for you to use.  If you are planning to visit us on a Saturday, we would advise that you phone ahead – it is our busiest day!

Do You do Commission Sales?

We offer a commission sale service for the sale of instruments and bows on behalf of customers.  It is important that these instruments and bows are in good condition to maximise the chance of a sale and we will therefore discuss any work that might need to be completed before the items are offered for sale.  If the instrument does not sell or you decide to take it back, you will be liable for any repair costs.  This is a commission based service and rates of commission will depend on the value of the instrument or bow.
