Roth is recognised as one of the most important and prolific violin makers from the 20th Century Markneukirchen region of Germany. The Roth atelier produced vast quantities of uniformly good instruments, maintaining high standards through quality materials and employing skilled luthiers.  The firm used up to fourteen different Cremonese models and produced many good copies of examples by Stradivari,Guarneriand Amati.  In an attempt to combat the fashion of facsimile labels, Roth branded each instrument on the inside back and labelled with a unique serial number and model reference. Furthermore, Roth supervised and finished every instrument leaving the workshop which was accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

This violin, made c1930, has a one-piece back and is based on the Amati model.  The condition is very good and the sound sweet and intimate.  This violin would suit the student player.
