4/4 French Violin from the workshop of JB Deshayes Solomon, branded at the back.

The violin has a beautiful one piece slab-cut back, and very nice, naturally antiqued, honey coloured varnish. JB Deshayes Solomon was a French 18th century maker. His instruments are said to be experimental at times, though didn't make many in his life time. This particular example was probably made in the workshop, rather than JB Deshayes Solomon himself, but is a good example of 18th century violin making, and plays very well with a clear and expressive tone, and a great balance.
