Terms of Rental Agreement

This is a Rental agreement. Goods remain the property of Thwaites at all times. You must not sell or dispose of them.

There is a minimum of three months rental period. A three month rental fee, which is non-refundable will be charged in advance of your rental instrument being dispatched and a shipping cost. Thereafter the rental fee is payable monthly and in advance by Direct Debit. Failure to do so may result in a request for the return of the outfit, the total value of the instrument and / or extra charges to cover our costs. This 3 month minimum rental period will be refunded if you decide to purchase the instrument.

Please keep the box to ensure you have the right size packaging for collection.

The cost of your student rental remains the same even if you swap for a different size. Our basic level includes the cost of replacement strings, general wear and tear and bow re-hairs. You may upgrade to a more expensive instrument at any time. Your Direct Debit will change accordingly. Instruments may be exchanged for a different size or returned at any time without penalty.

We reserve the right to increase the rental fee by giving one month’s notice in writing. We may increase the rental fee at any time to take into account any change in the rate of VAT.

You must keep the goods safe and use them in a proper and careful manner. Repairs must be completed by us or elsewhere with our written agreement. Failure to do so may result in charges being incurred for repair costs and / or replacement instrument costs.

The total cost of replacement due to loss or theft will be charged to the customer. We strongly recommend, therefore, that the instrument be covered by either a household or specialist musical instrument insurance policy. We recommend Allianz Musical Insurance, quote 1300039149 or Lark Musical Insurance, quote ‘THWAITES’ to join our affiliates. Full details about the make and cost of the instrument will be provided at the time of rental.

You must keep us informed of any changes of address, telephone numbers, etc. Failure to do so may result in extra charges to cover our costs.

Questions, comments and requests regarding the terms and conditions are welcomed and should be addressed to  info@thwaites.com
